Timeline works on the premise that we all have a physical representation of time. You probably don’t even realise you do. For instance, my timeline runs from what I can see in the future ahead of me, past my head on the left, over my shoulder, and off into the past behind me.
By using this metaphor for time we can easily access the anchors that are used to cross reference with time. Time is a powerful anchor in itself.
Access to the past in this way can be done quickly and effectively, bring almost instant change to how we feel in the present.
This technique I have found extremely useful with people who have experienced mild to serious trauma.
