In NLP the way we perceive the world comes in many modes, three of the most common being visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic (feeling, touch, taste, etc).
Within each of these modes there are sub modes or submodalities, also known as sub modal behaviour. Below is a list of submodalities for each of the 3 representational systems.
Visual | Auditory | Kinaesthetic |
Distance | Volume | Temperature |
Colour | Duration | Texture |
Brightness | Direction | Intensity |
Clarity | Tempo | Humidity |
Focus | Tone | Speed |
Location | Location | Pressure |
Using these submodalities we are able to transform memories, feelings, and even physical sensations.
