We use frames subconsciously in everything we do every day. They are a structure or scope of what we are doing, achieving or being. In NLP we use frames to provide guidance for our thoughts and actions.
There are several distinct frames that when used effectively can alter our way of thinking and feeling about a particular issue or task.
A common frame that we have been using since we were children is the As If frame. This is literally acting as if something were already present for us. Do you remember as a child pretending that something existed, like when playing toy soldiers, or playing with a toy. We altered our perception of reality so that something existed. This frame is extremely useful when when we want to achieve something that previously seemed unachievable. If we act like anything is possible this affects our thoughts and actions in the present and gives us access to new insight
